Frequently Asked Questions
We’re really struggling for time, when would we fit in a photo session?
I totally understand how busy life can be. The beauty of documentary family photography is that my sessions are made to work around you and your schedule. The most active of days can sometimes create the most rewarding images.
If it’s chaos and the kids aren’t dressed when I arrive, you are running around with a nappy in your hand whilst potty training your toddler, or just leaving the house taking eldest to one of their zillion extra-curricular activities, then that’s great, I’d love to join the fun.
I’m flexible and can work around your life, I’m also good at being around without causing any disruption. If you are planning a day trip out, and I can fit in your car, I’ll jump right in and join the adventure.
Our family life isn’t that interesting, will you have anything to shoot?
I take real photos, of real life, capturing real moments. Your family and the relationships you have with them is what makes you unique. Capturing the tiny details in your everyday life, like eating breakfast, playing in the park, walking the dog, homework and bedtime stories is extraordinary beautiful. These images are made by the people in them, not the location, or the weather, or the clothes you wear.
The beauty is in the being.
Do we need longer than one hour? Your session times seem so long!
The shorter sessions are great at getting little snippets of life. I can capture beautiful images within this time, but the longer sessions are the best option to allow you and your family to really shine.
With the longer sessions, we have the time to stretch our legs. I get used to you, you get used to me, and before you know it, I’m like a friend that’s come round to hang out for the day. This familiarity allows you to relax. You are more authentic and I am able to capture the real you.
My child doesn’t like to be told what to do, will this be a problem?
Not at all. My sessions aren’t directed, posed, or awkward. I take images of family life that’s unscripted, raw and unique. They are fun and you have the freedom to do whatever you like. And besides, sometimes the mischievous children can be the most fun to shoot!
We don’t live in Rossendale, do you travel?
I do travel. Please get in contact if you live outside my main catchment areas - East Lancashire, West Yorkshire and North Manchester.
Can I do a day in the life session with a newborn?
Of course. Capturing cute squishy baby images is hugely important because they grow and change so quickly. Book a session around your due date and we can work things out from there.
How many people in one session?
There’s no set number but keeping it to your immediate family members works best. Please get in contact if you would like to arrange a session for large family gatherings and parties.
I have a dog, do you include pets?
I definitely do! I love animals and they are 100% part of your family. The more waggy tails and wet noses we can get in the images the better. We could even arrange a session that’s aimed specifically around you and your pets.
Do we have to be at home for the shoot?
We don’t have to be at your home, but home is where the heart is, and you will be most natural where you are most comfortable. I love a good day trip out or a walk in the park. The location is completely your choice and should be in your happy place.
How much do you charge?
Session fees start from £100. Please see my prices page for session fees or get in contact for more details.
